Seeding the next generation of business leaders

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the lifeblood of our neighborhoods. Making space for small businesses to incubate and innovate must be a part of our conversations around neighborhood revitalization.
Since 2018, MACC Development has been conceptualizing a small-scale commercial market on the corner of Mack Avenue and Seyburn Street.
Previous community visions for this space established the project’s goals. These concepts were inspired to use shipping containers to act as the building material for the market space.
However, following a cost analysis, the project team found that traditional building techniques would not only be more affordable, but allow for greater customization of the market park.
The market space seeks to bridge the gap between “startup and storefront” for small businesses in the 48214 while transforming a once-vacant urban space into a thriving neighborhood hub. We strive to create a family-friendly space that supports small businesses, community gatherings, and amenities like a walking path into the neighborhood and playscapes for kids.
